CLIENTS
Liberty Hill Foundation in Los Angeles each year celebrates the social justice victories of their grantees with their Upton Sinclair Awards Dinner attended by over 800 people. In 2007 they asked Nahmias to create an emotional and uplifting opening reel for the event and in doing so being to build an archive of their grantee stories and voices for future reference.
OneLegacy Transplant Donor Network, dedicated to the life-saving and life-enhancing benefits of organ and tissue donation, brings together organ recipient and donor families each year for the unique purpose of creating a float for the annual Tournament of Roses Parade. In 2006 they engaged Nahmias to create a photo-documentary which was used to help brand this unique experience. Project images were used for everything from note cards, to an emotional photo-montage DVD which helps share the mission of their Donate Life campaign and share the emotional stories of OneLegacy clients.
American Cancer Society wanted to expand their photographic representation of diverse groups and cultures for a range of collateral materials used in their national campaigns. They turned to Nahmias to shoot their Relay for Life, an event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs. Nahmias used the event to not just shoot environmental portraits showing the unique interaction and diversity of ACS's survivors network and constituents, but also to tell the story about how this unique event comes together. ACS turns to Nahmias (on an on-going basis) to shoot any number of important events and special projects across the state.
California Community Foundation, a major hub of California philanthropy, is well known for their beautifully designed annual reports. In 2004, they wanted to do something different so they collaborated with Nahmias to create a book that relies heavily on bold images and minimal text to highlight ten very diverse individuals connected to the foundation, from donors and board members to recipients of scholarships and services the foundation funds. Nahmias shot short photo essays that tell the story of each person and how they define community.
