MIXTECO KIDS, Oxnard

Since there are few teachers in California schools who speak their language, many Mixteco children (originally from Oaxaca or other indigenous regions of Mexico) do not attend school. Older children are often left to supervise the younger ones while their parents work the fields. This ungated apartment complex sits about 200 feet from the 101 Freeway.
