HARRIET, Beit T’Shuvah
Harriet Rossetto is the founding excutive director of Beit T’Shuvah. Just over twenty years ago, after an early adulthood as a hippie and a stint working for a motivational speaker, she found herself forty-five years old, broke, and on the street. As she explains it, when she came upon a help wanted ad looking for someone to work with Jewish criminal offenders, "the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I saw it as destiny rather than chance." Her first interaction was with a woman prisoner her own age and from a similar background. "This is me she said," and from there began building Beit T’Shuvah into what it is presently – the only facility of its kind in the country.
